ADA Lost $0.26 Again. The $0.244–$0.246 Base Is Now Resistance

cardano ada markets market-structure macro

ADA's breakout above $0.26 did not hold. CardanoScope's latest snapshot, taken at 16:00 UTC on October 8, put ADA at $0.2317. That is down 9.6% over 24 hours, with rolling 24-hour turnover of 2.378 billion ADA. A second October 8 observation came in at a similar $0.2311.*

This changes the near-term setup. In the October 5 brief, I said ADA's move through $0.26 was unresolved. It needed sustained demand to show the advance was more than short covering. The market has now given its first real answer: the breakout did not follow through. That does not prove the whole rally was short covering. It does show that buyers could not turn the breakout into a new trading range above the old ceiling.

The Breakout Failed to Hold Above $0.26

CardanoScope observed ADA at $0.2704 on October 6 and $0.2675 on October 7. Price was holding above the old $0.26 ceiling but was no longer extending. The latest $0.2317 reading puts ADA back below that ceiling. It is also below the cluster that supported the early-October advance.

That leaves two resistance zones above price:

  • $0.244–$0.246: CardanoScope observed ADA at $0.2463 on October 2, $0.2443 on October 3 and $0.2439 on October 4. This was the base for the breakout. With price now below it, it is the first level a recovery has to reclaim.
  • $0.259–$0.270: The October 5, 7 and 6 observations were $0.2597, $0.2675 and $0.2704. Price failed to stay in this band. As long as ADA trades below it, the near-term structure is bearish.

The current $0.231 area is a reference point, not support. Both October 8 observations sit near it, but CardanoScope's snapshots show no earlier consolidation below it. Analyst Ali Charts, cited by crypto.news, sees a possible move toward about $0.21 at the lower edge of an ascending channel. That is his chart call, not a level CardanoScope's data has tested. If ADA breaks below $0.231, the honest description is open downside, not a known floor.

Turnover Does Not Look Like a Capitulation Spike

The latest 24-hour turnover is 2.378 billion ADA, and the other October 8 observation shows 2.533 billion. Both are well below the rally's peak. CardanoScope's October 6 observation recorded 3.698 billion ADA. The October 5 brief reported 4.426–4.469 billion. So whichever October 5 figures are used, the October 8 drop came on lower turnover than the breakout did. These are rolling 24-hour figures, not calendar-day volume, so this is not a precise liquidation count. It still does not look like a high-volume capitulation that buyers immediately absorbed.

Outside positioning data points to the same mechanism. On October 7, CryptoSlate (via Cardano Feed) reported that leveraged positioning behind ADA's rally from about $0.19 to $0.27 had grown faster than the dollar liquidity underneath it. It also cited Santiment's count of 413 transactions of $100,000 or more on October 5, the highest since June 4. The same day, CoinGape described the broader crypto pullback as a macro-driven deleveraging event, with total market capitalization falling 2.59%.

Put together, the picture is a rally that was more leveraged than spot demand could support. Once momentum stopped, there were not enough spot buyers above $0.26 to hold price there. Neither source gives current funding or open-interest figures, so I can't say how much leverage has already been flushed. That is the open variable. If positioning has cleared, a bounce becomes more likely mechanically. But until spot demand shows up, a bounce would be a relief rally, not proof the breakout is back.

The TPS Record Cannot Fix the Chart on Its Own

Cardano Feed reported a new single-block record of 436 transactions, beating a 345-transaction block earlier the same day. The report itself makes the key distinction: this is burst capacity in one block, not sustained network-wide throughput.

The report came out before CardanoScope's 16:00 UTC snapshot, but that timing does not mean one caused the other. Scaling news does not add exchange liquidity, reduce leverage or absorb supply. A technical record has to work through those channels before it becomes a market tailwind. A Leios-era throughput milestone does none of that this week.

Three Paths From Here

If ADA reclaims $0.244–$0.246 and holds there, the first layer of damage is repaired. That would show buyers defending the old base, not just producing an intraday bounce. To restore the breakout case, ADA would then need to clear $0.259–$0.270 with sustained turnover, not a single spike.

If ADA stays below $0.244 but holds around $0.231, this is consolidation after a failed breakout. It could turn into a base, but nothing confirms that yet. A sideways range alone does not repair the lost $0.26 ceiling.

If ADA moves decisively below $0.231, finding a lower price becomes the path of least resistance. CardanoScope's snapshots show no tested support below that area. The $0.21 channel target belongs to Ali Charts, not to this data, so naming my own precise target would be false precision.

My near-term lean is bearish. ADA lost the early-October base and then the reclaimed $0.26 ceiling, one after the other. Turnover has not shown a capitulation followed by a reversal, and outside reports describe a leveraged rally running ahead of spot liquidity. The first recovery test is $0.244–$0.246, and the test for full repair is $0.259–$0.270. Until ADA reclaims both in that order, the October rally looks more like a breakout that failed to hold than the start of a confirmed trend. What would change my view is a reclaim of the first zone on rising spot turnover, ideally alongside evidence that leverage has already been cleared.

*\*CardanoScope's current October 5 observation ($0.2597, 2.335 billion ADA) differs from the snapshots cited in the October 5 brief ($0.2636 and $0.2629, with 4.426–4.469 billion ADA). These are separate samples, not finalized daily closes, and this brief does not treat either set as a correction of the other.*
